Position Summary

The A-DPS Design Program Review Specialist will work directly with clients to a), develop their design programming requirements based on project needs, b) complete an assessment of their existing proposals and compile a peer review of industry best practices to improve delivery to the client, or c) in the case of a project in flight, complete an assessment of the current status and the development of an improvement plan to steer the design project back on track. 

It will be expected that the Design Specialist will own and manage the implementation of the improvement plan to fruition and handoff. The ideal candidate will be degree qualified with a minimum of 10-15 years’ Design experience in the Semiconductor environment, will have lead Tool install Design departments and have experience in development of improvement plans.



Key Responsibilities

Preparation Stage

  • Complete and Audit via workshops or FTF meetings with Client and GC design reps on Design readiness for Project.
  • Review of design team’s responsibilities and scope of services and identify area's for improvement.
  • Review the proposed/existing design programme and compile a gap analysis of same
  • Review proposed/existing design meetings and involving critical sub-contractors as necessary
  • Review Organisational and reporting structures to ensure that Client, GC's and Subcontractors design teams are working to clients' requirements and OKR's.
  • Review constructability of Design and Trade readiness to do same.
  • Review transfer of design readiness between GC1 and GC2.
  • Understand and provide solution where possible, against the status of ‘strategic design’ area's for improvement within the existing project framework.
  • Produce and maintain a Risk & Opportunity Schedule for improvement of Design Delivery

Output Stage

  • Current Status report on Design Readiness for project.
  • Mitigation plan including process improvements, organisational changes, timelines and Schedule.

Implementation Stage
  • Manage and assist the Project Design team to implement mitigation plans.
  • Act as mentor/advisor to Design Manager during the construction phase.
  • Chair and minute Design improvement meetings and ensure production of information in line with the design programme.
  • Work with the site team to consider alternatives design solutions.
Management Responsibilities
  • If needed, propose organisational structure changes to Client to improve design management on project.
  • Interface with TICE and CM to produce a robust plan to manage design for remainder of project and ongoing construction.

Education And Experience
  • 10-15 years’ experience of Design Management
  • Degree in construction or Design related role
  • Semiconductor Basebuild and Tool install Design Experience required.
Essential Skills
  • Understand the different Client procurement routes
  • Experience of working and supporting the pre-construction stage
  • Understanding of various forms of Contract
  • Commercial awareness
  • Experience of the current IDC Design & Build procedures
  • Ability to organise, plan, programme and manage workloads
  • Ability to Influence with good presentation skills
  • Good working knowledge of Building Regulations and Planning Permission procedures and CDM
  • Ability to prioritise workload, and adapting to the build programme requirements
  • The ability to provide technical leadership
  • Technically proficient may excel in a chosen trade or design discipline
  • Be able to use Microsoft Word / Excel / PowerPoint/BIM and Cad
  • Be able to lead and manage a design team and design subcontractors
  • Staff performance appraisal, development, training, coaching/mentoring skills.
  • Team working, delegation skills and the ability to achieve delivery through others.
  • Promotes innovation and knowledge sharing
Other

Location: Ireland and Malaysia

Travel: Business Trips to Malaysia for up to 3 weeks at a time.

Working hours: Max 45 hours per full week.
