Position Summary
This Junior Mechanical Engineer involves working as part of a multi-discipline, highly interactive and coordinated team focused on projects including semiconductor manufacturing, data centre facilities, and other state of the art manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with strong communication skills. They will exhibit a passion and desire to apply their professional experience and knowledge in a team environment on technically challenging and professionally rewarding projects. The Junior Mechanical Engineer shall be mentored by the team of engineers were ongoing training will be provided with continuous professional improvement throughout their career here Arcadis DPS.   Our team is seeking a person who understands the importance of meeting their targeted commitments while being flexible to the ever-changing and fast paced environment of our clients’ sites.

Key Responsibilities 

• Perform necessary engineering and design tasks to produce construction documents within a team of engineers and designers.
• Coordinate and collaborate real time with other disciplines such as electrical, structural, architectural and process to develop designs.
• Follow quality and have an understanding of the CAD/BIM standards.
• Provide technical support and assistance to Engineers and Technicians.
• Perform quality review checks for 2D/3D modelling and Mech/HVAC deliverables.
• Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
• Participate in design reviews and risk assessments.
• Exercise judgment in developing plans or alternatives and work with teams to assure quality plans.
• Assist with field activities such as observation of construction activities.
• Review construction submittals for conformance with the intent of contract and design documents.
• Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
• Assist other team members in working towards site master planning, concept designs preliminary through to construction engineering phases with other team members
• Keep on top of technology and industry trends and development.
• Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
• Develop system sequences of operation and P&ID’s under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.

Education and Experience

• Minimum qualification of bachelor’s degree in building services/mechanical engineering.
• 2+ years’ experience with industrial/commercial design in mechanical building services
• Semiconductor experience preferable but not necessary, skill sets: wet and dry black utilities, calculations, specifications, detailing and sizing.
• Relevant engineering/design experience in industrial/advanced technology sector.
• Engineering/design experience in the Mech/HVAC systems
• Experience in equipment layout definition.
• Excellent English level - written and spoken
• Attention to detail and demonstrated initiative.
• Computer literate (Microsoft Suite of Programs).

Essential Skills

• Knowledge of Mech/HVAC specific design standards (minimum UK/EU), with an understanding of the international building codes.
• Ability to interact with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors at all levels.
• Experience using 3D BIM environment.
