Position Summary
Lab Technician / Supply Manager

ADPS Advanced Technology Group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced chemical lab technician to join the team in a uLED research lab.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting operations in our materials surface-science lab by running experiments and managing lab supplies and consumables. Additionally, the role will involve supporting and maintaining chemical processes on automated acid and solvent tools in our cleanroom.  We are looking for a hands-on engineer with a passion for exploring new materials, processes, and applications.

The role involves air-free processing of semiconductor samples and measuring the response using photoluminescence methods. The successful candidate in the role would split time between research experiments and processing to support electroluminescence device testing.

Qualified candidates will be able to work effectively and safely in a laboratory environment to execute experiments.

This position will be based in Cork and is full time on-site.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out experiments (coupon and wafer level) from a standard procedure and to modify the procedure based on the verbal instructions
  • Identify needed lab supplies and order consumables with minimal direction
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance work on acid and solvent tools
  • Support equipment engineering for the troubleshooting of acid and solvent tools in the event of unexpected/unscheduled shutdown
  • Provide input to assist with development and optimization of equipment preventive maintenance schedules and metrics for general tool health
  • Document work in laboratory reports and maintenance logs effectively

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Able to work safely in a chemistry/materials lab, follow chemical safety guidelines, and make informed choices about chemical storage
  • Experience using a Schlenk line or vacuum manifold for preparative chemistry
  • 1+ years prior experience of day-today work in a laboratory environment, inclusive of academic work (e.g., industrial setting, Masters program, etc)
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with optical spectroscopy methods including photoluminescent spectroscopy
  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and safety regulations
  • Degree in chemistry, materials science, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using a photoluminescence microscope for characterization of semiconductor samples
  • Read and interpret mechanical prints and electrical/electronic schematics
  • Able to propose out-of-the box ideas to improve the operating efficiency of the laboratory facility
  • Previous industrial experience working in a chemistry laboratory environment for 1+ years
