Job Description

An experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor is required for a long-term temporary contract in Glasgow. This role offers a unique blend of site-based delivery, commercial oversight, and consultancy input — ideal for a QS with strong NEC contract knowledge who enjoys working closely with both clients and contractors.

You’ll be working on a significant project involving steel and cladding packages, overseeing all commercial aspects from procurement through to final account. The position requires a hands-on approach, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to manage contract administration with confidence.

About the Role

The role will be largely site-based (up to 4 days per week), with 1 day per week expected in our client's central office, and the potential for an additional remote working day

Key responsibilities include:

  • Full commercial management of steel and cladding packages

  • Administering and managing NEC contracts.

  • Working closely with contractor teams on-site to ensure accurate forecasting, cost control, and progress reporting

  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to resolve commercial queries and disputes

  • Supporting procurement processes, including subcontractor engagement and contract negotiations

  • Preparing valuations, cost reports, and final accounts in line with NEC procedures

  • Ensuring full audit trails and commercial compliance throughout the package lifecycle

About You

You’ll be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a solid track record in NEC contract administration and commercial management of  construction packages — ideally in steel, cladding, or other building envelope works.

Essential skills & experience:

  • Proven experience managing projects under NEC contracts (Option C desirable)

  • Strong understanding of post contract commercial processes

  • Experience working directly with contractors on live construction sites

  • Confident communicator with strong negotiation and reporting skills

  • Ability to work independently while remaining aligned with wider client objectives

  • Available for an immediate or near-immediate start

What’s on Offer

  • Long-term contract with continuity of engagement through to end of 2026

  • A balanced work pattern across site, office, and optional remote working

  • Opportunity to work with both contractor and consultancy teams, gaining a broad range of experience

  • Desirable day rate/salary depending on experience
