Job Description

Are you a Quality Assurance expert with a passion for precision and compliance in complex infrastructure projects? Contract Scotland is working on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor to recruit an experienced QA/QC Manager for a major aviation infrastructure project at Edinburgh Airport.

This freelance role is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of quality across all project stages. You will take full ownership of quality management systems, lead inspections and audits, and ensure the project is delivered in strict adherence to client specifications and industry regulations.

Key
Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the project’s Quality Management System (QMS).

  • Lead internal and external audits, and manage all documentation relating to NCRs, ITPs, and CAPA processes.

  • Conduct quality inspections and ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and regulatory standards.

  • Support and mentor project personnel in quality procedures and best practice.

  • Drive continuous improvement and promote a strong quality culture across the project team.

  • Compile quality performance reports and present findings to stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with design and delivery teams to resolve quality or compliance-related issues.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality Management, or a related field.

  • Professional qualifications in quality (IRCA, CQI or equivalent).

  • Additional auditing or industry-specific training desirable.

  • Strong experience in QA/QC roles within construction or infrastructure sectors.

  • Hands-on experience with inspection processes, ITPs, NCRs, and CAPA.

  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality systems.

  • Leadership capability with a proactive approach to influencing and guiding teams.

  • Exceptional documentation, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience on aviation infrastructure or major construction projects (preferred).

  • Willingness to travel and work away as needed.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to liaise effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
