Are you a Project Manager or Site Agent delivering civil engineering projects… and starting to think about your next step? Well this is a Bid Manager role and we'd love you to review this position.
Do you want a role that still uses your technical, delivery and commercial insight — without spending your life on-site?
Our client, a respected civil engineering contractor with decades of success and a strong industry brand, is looking to appoint a Bid Manager.
They are actively interested in people from project delivery roles who want to move into pre-construction and hone their strategic, planning and win-work capability.
This is not a traditional bid writing job.
It’s a role for someone who understands how projects genuinely get built — and wants to use that knowledge to influence which projects the business secures.
Step away from the daily pressures of site delivery while still using the experience you’ve built.
Develop new skills in strategy, planning, risk, programme optimisation and client engagement.
Gain a broader view of the business, commercial strategy and long-term pipeline.
Position yourself for future leadership roles in pre-construction or operations.
You’ll contribute to bids across a varied portfolio, including:
Windfarms
Battery storage facilities
Flood and coastal protection
Substation projects
General civil engineering works
Lead and manage the bid process from enquiry through to submission
Work closely with commercial, technical and operational teams to shape the strategy
Apply your on-site delivery experience to build realistic, deliverable methodologies
Coordinate submission documents with the support of in-house bid/graphics specialists
Liaise with clients to clarify requirements and strengthen pre-construction relationships
Support post-tender reviews and continuous improvement activity
This opportunity is ideal for someone who has:
A strong grounding in civil engineering project delivery (Project Manager, Site Agent or similar - if you're already a Bid Manager, great!)
Experience coordinating design, programmes, temporary works, risk or procurement on live projects
Excellent communication and organisational skills
A genuine interest in moving into a more strategic, planning-focused, office-based role
(Background in consultancy or design is also welcomed. Chartered status is beneficial but not essential.)
Work alongside an experienced pre-construction leadership team
Join a business with a respected brand and a track record of successful project delivery
Move into a pivotal role where your operational insight directly shapes the projects the business wins
Become part of a collaborative, supportive, highly professional office environment
