Job Description

Ready for a role where no two days are quite the same?

Coba Education is supporting a welcoming school in Northampton with the recruitment of a Cover Supervisor to join their team after the October half-term break.

This is a temp-to-permanent opportunity, initially working through Coba Education before moving onto a permanent contract with the school from January 2027.

What makes this opportunity a little different is the variety. You’ll be supporting across the whole school, from primary through to secondary, stepping into lessons when teachers are absent and helping ensure pupils remain engaged, settled and on track with their learning.

The role

As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll:

  • Supervise classes during short-term teacher absence
  • Deliver work that has been set by the class teacher
  • Support pupils across both primary and secondary age groups
  • Help maintain a positive, calm and productive classroom environment
  • Manage classroom behaviour confidently and consistently
  • Work closely with teaching and support staff across the school
  • Be flexible and ready to support different subjects and year groups throughout the day

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience working with children or young people
  • Are confident standing in front of a classroom and engaging pupils
  • Have strong communication and behaviour-management skills
  • Are adaptable, reliable and happy working across different age groups
  • Enjoy variety and can quickly build rapport with pupils and staff

Experience or an interest in PE would be particularly advantageous, but it isn’t essential.

You may already be working as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Sports Coach or Learning Support Assistant, or you could have other relevant experience working with young people and be ready to take the next step.

What’s on offer?

  • A temp-to-perm pathway with a clear intention for the successful candidate to become permanent from January
  • Monday to Friday working hours of 8.30am–3.30pm
  • 38 weeks per year, term time plus training days
  • Permanent Grade H actual salary of £22,489–£24,816
  • The opportunity to work across both primary and secondary education
  • Support from Coba Education throughout the initial temporary period

Interested?

If you’re looking for more than just day-to-day cover and would like the opportunity to become a permanent part of a school team, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply today or contact Coba Education for a confidential conversation about the role.
