Job Description

Coba Education is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a supportive and forward‑thinking primary school in Northampton for a permanent Inclusion Support Practitioner. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about inclusion, pupil wellbeing, and making a meaningful difference beyond traditional classroom support.

Working closely with teaching staff and the SENDCo, you will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. You will support the delivery of engaging lessons, lead targeted interventions, and provide class cover where required, ensuring continuity and high standards of learning throughout the school.

The Role

As an Inclusion Support Practitioner, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils’ academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and personal development across the school
  • Working with individuals, small groups, and whole classes to promote positive learning outcomes
  • Delivering structured intervention programmes, including Phonics, Literacy, SEMH, and Metacognitive approaches
  • Undertaking specialist assessments (including Lucid, dyslexia, and dyscalculia) to help identify additional learning needs
  • Monitoring and reviewing pupil progress using tools such as Edukey, IEPs, and Pupil Passports
  • Planning and delivering lessons under teacher guidance, with flexibility to provide classroom cover when required
  • Collaborating closely with the SENDCo to support intervention planning and review processes
  • Supervising pupils during lunch, break times, and wraparound provision, ensuring a safe and positive environment
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and staff to promote inclusive practice
  • Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and the school’s values at all times
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development, using evidence‑based research to inform practice

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people, ideally within a primary school or education setting
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of inclusion, SEND, and individual learning needs
  • Be adaptable, proactive, and confident supporting learning across different year groups
  • Communicate effectively with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Show patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Be committed to safeguarding, equality, and inclusive education
