Packing Lines Delivery Project Manager
Location: Northumberland
Contract: 3-Year Fixed Term
Central Employment is seeking an experienced Packing Lines Delivery Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major capital packing line scope for a large-scale project. This is a fantastic opportunity to manage complex engineering projects within a regulated environment, ensuring successful integration of new packing lines into production systems.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Deliver the capital packing line scope for the Astraea project.
- Develop detailed project execution plans, schedules, and risk registers.
- Ensure compliance with site engineering standards, GMP, SHE, and environmental regulations.
- Deliver scope on time and within budget.
- Provide project updates and KPIs into the overall governance structure.
Technical Management & Operational Readiness
- Review and approve vendor design information, equipment specifications, and drawings.
- Lead FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), and commissioning.
- Coordinate installation contractors, OEMs, and internal teams.
- Support equipment qualification (DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ) with validation teams.
- Ensure seamless integration of new packing lines into production systems.
- Deliver lines capable of achieving agreed OEE, throughput, and quality KPIs.
Commercial & Vendor Management
- Act as the single point of contact with OEMs and contractors to ensure technical and contractual compliance.
- Oversee correct and timely hook-up and integration of packing lines with utilities and facilities.
Standardization & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure equipment standardization across packing lines.
- Drive lessons learned and continuous improvement across capital project delivery.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Degree-level engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience delivering packaging or production equipment projects in a regulated industry (Pharmaceuticals, FMCG, etc.).
- Knowledge of packing line equipment (cartoners, labellers, blister machines, case packers, vision systems, serialisation).
- Experience leading project teams through design reviews, FAT, and commissioning.
- Strong vendor management skills, including international suppliers.
- Experience with commissioning, validation, and GMP compliance.
- Excellent stakeholder management and contractor supervision skills.
- Formal Project Management qualification (Prince2, PMP) desirable but not essential.
