Mechanical Engineer
Location: Scarborough, YO11
Salary: £47,000 per annum (experience based)
Working Hours:

• Monday to Thursday: 08:30 – 16:45
• Friday: 08:30 – 15:30

Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus public bank holidays

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a leading manufacturing operation based in Scarborough. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and skilled engineer to play a pivotal role in maintaining and improving production machinery, while contributing to the ongoing success and safety of the site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain the effectiveness of all guarding and safety devices implemented by the company.
• Carry out repairs, machine setting, and routine preventative maintenance services on all roll-forming machinery to improve plant functionality and reduce downtime.
• Collaborate closely with Production Supervisors to ensure all maintenance tasks and repairs are completed promptly to avoid disruptions in production.
• Liaise with and support sub-contractors working on-site, ensuring strict adherence to the company’s Health and Safety protocols.
• Troubleshoot rolling machinery and equipment failures to identify root causes and carry out effective repairs.
• Assist various production teams (Industrialisation, Manufacture, R&D) with continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct detailed analysis of machinery breakdowns to identify and resolve recurring issues.
• Implement mechanical design improvements and necessary repairs.
• Perform bench fitting work as required.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement activities across the manufacturing process.
• Ensure compliance with all site Environmental procedures, including monitoring and reporting as necessary.
• Promptly report any misuse of equipment, safety concerns, or site damage to the Unit Controllers.

Key Attributes:

• Strong knowledge of Production Process Engineering.
• Proficient in Design Applications, including the use of AutoCAD (some training can be provided).
• Basic operational knowledge of Lathe, Vertical Miller, and Surface Grinder.
• Experience with Press Tool maintenance would be advantageous.
• Basic roll-forming knowledge is preferred, though training will
