Mechanical Engineer
Location: Scarborough, YO11
Salary: up to £47000

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 08:30 – 16:45
  • Friday: 08:30 – 15:30

Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus public bank holidays

About the Role:

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Mechanical Engineer on behalf of a leading manufacturing facility in Scarborough.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a key role in ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and continuous improvement of our production equipment and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and ensure the proper functioning of all safety and guarding systems across the plant.

  • Perform repairs, setups, and preventative maintenance on roll-forming machinery to optimise performance and minimise downtime.

  • Work collaboratively with Production Supervisors to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.

  • Coordinate with on-site subcontractors, ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety policies.

  • Diagnose and resolve faults in rolling machinery and associated systems.

  • Support teams across Industrialisation, Manufacturing, and R&D with improvement projects.

  • Analyse machinery breakdowns to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions.

  • Contribute to mechanical design enhancements and carry out necessary modifications or repairs.

  • Conduct bench fitting and associated workshop tasks as required.

  • Take an active role in continuous improvement initiatives across the production environment.

  • Comply with all environmental and safety procedures, including reporting and documentation.

  • Immediately report any unsafe practices, misuse of equipment, or damage to infrastructure.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Solid understanding of production process engineering.

  • Experience in machine tool operation, including Lathe, Vertical Miller, and Surface Grinder.

  • Working knowledge of roll-forming processes is desirable (training provided if required).

  • Familiarity with Press Tool maintenance is an advantage.

  • Competency in AutoCAD or similar design software (training available).

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on, solutions-focused approach.
