We’re currently recruiting on behalf of a leading electronics manufacturer based in Melksham, who are looking for a Purchasing Assistant to support their busy procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in purchasing or supply chain support to join a growing and fast-paced business.

The Role:

As a Purchasing Assistant, you’ll work under the guidance of the Buyers to support day-to-day purchasing activity across both production and non-production categories. You'll play a key role in ensuring timely and cost-effective supply of essential materials, components, and services—keeping operations running smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Raise purchase orders for non-production materials, consumables, and essential supplies.
  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
  • Manage purchase order acknowledgements and track supplier performance.
  • Expedite orders where required to ensure on-time, in-full delivery.
  • Resolve purchasing queries and escalate where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate supplier and product data within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Support buyers with administrative tasks and process improvements.
  • Ensure all actions align with the company’s core values and policies.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Experience in a similar purchasing or administrative role
  • Proficiency with ERP or MRP systems
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable:

  • Experience using SAGE purchasing systems
  • CIPS Level 2 Certificate (or working towards it)
  • Background in electrical engineering or manufacturing environments

Working hours:

37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday 08:30 – 17:00 (some flexibility available)
