Job Title: Berther
Location: Peterhead
Duration: Full Time / Permanent
7 days on, 7 days off. 78.75 hours per fortnight to be worked during your week on shift. Your 08:00 to 20:00 with a flexible start/finish time of plus or minus 2 hours.
Job Purpose:
We are recruiting on behalf of a client for a Berther, The Berther is responsible for undertaking and ensuring the Safe Mooring of vessels alongside on all Assigned Quayside locations in accordance with current legislation and company procedures. They must also ensure the delivery of water to vessels from shore side supply in accordance with “Offshore Installations and Pipeline Works (Management and Administration) Regulations (MAR) 1995”.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Undertaking daily quayside inspections, surveying, fendering, coping and general quay conditions including sea state. Reporting relevant findings to appropriate person/department.
- Giving clear, unambiguous instructions to all members of the appointed vessel and pilots and being fully conversant with the duties of all the persons involved as part of their appointed team.
- Undertaking a Pre-Use & Weekly Inspection of all water hoses and all associated equipment and reporting any findings to Quayside Operations Supervisor.
- Undertaking a monthly detailed inspection of all berths Hoses and equipment, reporting any findings to Quayside Operations Supervisor.
- Ensuring formal procedures, standing instructions, and safety standards are complied with at all times.

- You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with relevant Company personnel and vessel bridge crew, complying with all Company policies, procedures and working practices.

- Current Forklift Certificate
Full UK Driving License
National Water Hygiene Certificate
HSSEQ
- In partnership with the HSSEQ department, ensure the continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance and compliance to all laws, regulations and industry standards/codes.
- Reports all incidents or breaches of policy or regulations to the line manager.
- Fully endorse the ASCO ‘Stop the Job’ policy and commitment to proactive intervention where an unsafe act or condition is observed.
- Adherence to the ASCO’s integrated management system (AIMS) ensuring document control and improvements to key processes is maintained.
