Business Development Executive – Specialist Services
Location:
Aberdeen – with travel as required
The Business Development Executive will play a key role in driving the growth of the organisation’s Specialist Services division by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities across a range of sectors. Collaborating closely with the Business Development Manager, the post holder will execute business development activities and work with key internal stakeholders to expand revenue and EBITDA.
This role requires a dynamic professional with a proven track record in commercial business development, dedicated to executing strategic initiatives that drive business success and contribute to the continued growth of the Specialist Services business.
The Business Development Executive is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive growth and profitability.
Qualify and develop new market segments, customer segments, and geographic opportunities for Specialist Services offerings.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders.
Execute proactive sales activities, including client visits, to promote services and identify future opportunities.
Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals, collaborating closely with commercial and marketing teams.
Achieve individual sales targets and contribute to overall revenue growth.
Monitor industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities.
Represent the business at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
Support bidding, tendering, and pricing processes in collaboration with the Group Commercial team and Business Development Manager.
Develop targeted prospect lists, sales strategies, and messaging to generate sales-qualified leads.
Take ownership of closing business opportunities successfully.
Proactively manage client relationships through regular communication and ongoing support.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives relating to customer service, processes, and cost-effectiveness.
Generate new leads through networking, research, and social media activity.
Identify market demands and customer requirements and use insights to help guide marketing strategy, working closely with the marketing team and key internal stakeholders.
Handle administrative tasks as required and support ad-hoc duties.
Establish and maintain relationships with internal business managers and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Specialist Services offerings and capabilities.
Develop and maintain a strong awareness of competitor services and market positioning.
Proven track record in business development, including identifying opportunities and successfully closing deals.
Strong understanding of market dynamics and industry trends.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong organisational skills with effective time and priority management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
Willingness to travel as required.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
Proficient in CRM, sales, and reporting tools.
Full UK driving licence (essential).
Customer-focused with a strong sales or business development background.
Proven ability to build and maintain long-term professional client relationships.
Adaptable and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
Confident networker with strong presentation and influencing skills.
Effective communicator at all organisational levels, with the ability to tailor verbal and written communication.
Commercially aware with strong judgement and decision-making capability.
Extensive experience working with Oil & Gas Operators and Consultancy firms.
High attention to detail with excellent diary management and customer support skills.
Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office, databases, and reporting applications.
Highly motivated, self-driven, and performance-oriented.
3–5 years’ experience in a business development role.
Experience using sales and CRM software tools (e.g. HubSpot).
In partnership with the HSE department, support the continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Report all incidents or breaches of policy or regulation to the line manager.
Fully endorse the organisation’s “Stop the Job” policy and demonstrate proactive intervention where unsafe acts or conditions are observed.
Adhere to the integrated management system, ensuring document control and continuous improvement of key processes.
