The Company
Able Bridge Recruitment are thrilled to be working with an interesting organisation based on the outskirts of Edinburgh in the recruitment of a financial controller on a permanent basis.

The business structure is an overarching holding company that subsequently has a number of trading entities within its ownership.  The financial controller will form part of a new management structure within the holding company which will have a direct report into the owners.

This vacancy is a newly created role that is the result of continued growth in the order book as well as a number of acquisitions that the business has made.

The Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to migrate the accounting function of the group and holding company away from the firm of accountants that are currently in charge of producing them.  You will also be responsible for educating and advising the owners of the business in financial performance, efficiencies and analysis of general commercial financial position. You will also be accountable for other aspects of the running of the companies such as HR and general administration.

On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;
Implementation and continuous improvement of financial controls.
Review of group structure and analysis of performance and financial compliance.
Production of statutory financial accounts within agreed corporate timeframes.
Production of month end pack for each trading entity with key narration of financial performance and business advise on improvements to financial performance.
Review of current budgets, forecasts and analysis of performance to date.
Reconciliation of balance sheets for each business unit and consolidate each into the group company accounts.
Work closely with the heads of each entity in narrating financial performance and assisting with financial improvements where possible.
Review of internal policies and procedures from an operational perspective relating to areas such as HR and administration.

The Requirements
We are seeking a professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), who has experience of working within a fast paced and continually moving environment (from within the UK).  Our client has suggested that the successful applicant would probably come from a construction or manufacturing background and who has worked within a group structured business.  We are seeking an individual who has the ability to influence, persuade and carry both the finance and HR agenda throughout the business from top down.  You will be able to work on your own initiative and have the credibility to act as part of the senior leadership team.  We are seeking applicants who have the right to work permanent in the UK and who has experience of managing the HR process also.

Our client will be expecting the successful applicant to be based in the office on a blended working model, the model that we are working with is 40% in the office and 60% working at home, however this may change and you may be expected to work more often in the office.  If, however, applicants wish to work longer in the office the option is available to them.
