Job Description

Senior Cost Specialist

Location: Baghdad, Iraq
Eligibility: Open to local candidates only

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end cost accounting activities while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Execute monthly financial processes within ERP systems, including reporting, reconciliations, and follow-up actions.
  • Monitor raw material inventory movements and production cost transactions across multiple sites.
  • Perform inventory reconciliations and analyze material consumption variances.
  • Prepare and review month-end journal entries, including accruals, amortizations, and allocations.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and investigate significant variances.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and financial analyses.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and oversee corporate cost allocation processes.
  • Maintain material pricing records and prepare periodic cost and profitability analysis reports.
  • Partner with Operations and G&A teams to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable financial information.
  • Analyze monthly cost and expense variances, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within FMCG, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems; experience with Logo ERP is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with SAP is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, cost structures, and costing methodologies.
  • Experience in financial reporting, account reconciliations, and audit support.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and results-driven mindset.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of Kurdish and/or Turkish will be considered an advantage.
