Our Main market sectors are; Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology, Medical Technologies, Oil and Gas, Advanced Technology, Science & Education, Food & Beverage and Energy.
DPS is currently looking for a Planner/Scheduler, who will play a key role in the delivery of DPSs multi-disciplinary projects. The applicant will be responsible for Planning & Scheduling of Project Activities for Concept, Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Qualification and Validation Phases.
The successful applicant will gain experience in a busy design & project management office by working closely with colleagues in our technical teams and other internal DPS departments to deliver on projects for our clients. Our clients are primarily in the Pharmaceutical sector.
Determining the Objectives, Scope and any Constraints of the Project.
Determine the Probable Start Date & Duration for the Project
Determine the best Strategy to deliver the Project.
Chair Interactive Planning Session
Obtain agreement with the Plan from the DPS PM
Prepare a Baseline Schedule of the Activities required to achieve the Plan
Creation of a Suitable WBS
Ensure clear responsibility and ownership for all project outcomes is defined via Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) methodology
Chair Interactive Schedule Workshops to Develop a Schedule.
Develop Schedule with all Activities Logically Linked with no Constraints (unless absolutely necessary).
Avoid Open Ends, Overly Complex Logic and/or too much Activity Breakout.
Clearly Identify the Critical Path(s)
Set-up the Schedule such that it can be readily rolled up to Levels 1, 2 & 3.
Prepare a what-if Analysis
Benchmark Check the Schedule against other Similar Projects
Collaborate with the Contractors to ensure that the WBS is acceptable to the Contractors, so that their Detail Level Schedules are prepared such that they roll up to the WBS.
Incorporate & integrate Contractor Schedules.
Prepare the Basis of Schedule Document
Obtain agreement with the Schedule from Stakeholders (A&E Leads, CM, & DPS PM)
The Baseline Schedule must be Approved by the PM prior to issue.
Obtain Progress Updates from Relevant Project Teams, (A&E, Procurement & Contractors)
Run and Check Progress Updates
Provide Status Report
Provide Lookahead Reports (typically 2/3 week lookaheads)
Use Graphics, and KPI's for Clarity (Excel or Power Bi)
KPI's should include Progress % Actual vs Planned, and Milestone Dates Forecast vs Planned.
Include Histograms & S-Curves
Schedule Reports to Management at Level 2 and with Critical Path
Include Narrative on the reason/justification for any Variances or Issues to the Schedule Milestones with any Mitigation Options
Issue Complete Updated Schedule to Teams for Information
Preparation of Customised Reports (as required by PM/CM or Teams)
Incorporate Approved Change of Scope into the Schedule
Include the Affect of Changes to planned Milestone Dates in the Schedule Reports
Resource Loading & Earned Value Reporting
Resource Load Contractor Tasks (dependent on the Needs of the CM)
Set-up & Provide Contractor Package Earned Value Reports in collaboration with the Contractors (where requested by the CM)
Resource Load A&E Tasks (Dependent on the needs of the PM)
Reports on A&E Efficiency and Earned Value Reporting is Not Required from the Scheduler (this is Carried within DPS out by the PC Specialists)
Skills & experience required:
Third Level Qualification in Construction Management or Engineering is Preferred
6+ years experience as a Planner/Scheduler or a Similar Role
Proficient with Primavera P6 Software & MS Project
Proficient with Excel
An understanding of Power Bi
Proficient in Planning Own's Work in order to meet deadlines.
Experienced in Reviewing and Refining Schedules with Project Teams to Optimise Quality
An understanding of typical A&E, Construction, and/or CQV Interdependencies, Sequencing & Logic
Are detailed oriented and quality focused.
Experience on Pharmaceutical and/or Micro Electronics Projects
Customer driven with excellent oral and written communications skills and general analytical, problem solving and project management skills. Strong knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of performance analysis (trending, root cause and gap analysis) benchmarking and audit compliance.
Oral and written knowledge of the English language.
Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry is an advantage.
